What we LOVE and HATE about RV Life
We love RV life and the flexibility we have to travel anywhere as a family! However, there are pros and cons to full-time RV living. Here is what we have learned.
Back in 2017 we had a desire to buy and renovate a bus! We really enjoyed the process, but had to sell it because we were moving. Then, in 2019 we found and flipped our first RV. It turned out so good that we rented it out as an Air B&B! After renovating the camper, we ended up moving back home so we decided to take the camper with us and start full time RV life. We absolutely loved the feeling of minimalist living and the opportunity for adventure. Eventually we were offered the option of moving into a guest house to help with upkeep on the property! We were excited because we would have the space to renovate more RVs. See our past renovations HERE. Our time doing that opened up the door to being a part of Gutted! Watch all about it here.
We enjoyed our time in the guest house, but the owner needed to sell so while we finished out our surrogacy journey we stayed with friends and my mom. We are so thankful for their hospitality during that time and with my surrogacy delivery date approaching we had the itch to start RV life again!
We knew that RV life wouldn’t be a forever thing. It was for a transition period in between renting the guest house and our forever home! We have always wanted property and a place to settle in!
Traveling full time in our RV proved to be hard for us in the season of life we are in with little ones and with what we do for work. Although we have a flexible schedule, the kids aren’t able to be totally independent while we work and there is not a lot of separation in the camper to record podcast episodes, create content, or be on calls! As the kids grow and as Scout grows they will all want space to run and play, and we want that for them!
The adventure is something we will never regret. We love that we get to take our home everywhere we go! This has been especially helpful as we visit with family in other states. It’s so nice for us to have our own space to take a breather or put the kids to bed so we can enjoy a game night. We love traveling to Florida, Wisconsin, Utah and we have many more adventures ahead so even when we buy land and build, we will always travel!
Living in the RV has made it possible to go on new adventures, meet new people and experience new things as a family, and I am so thankful for the memories we have made. Thank you for following our crazy, wild, and adventurous life. I hope by sharing I can give some insight into what life is like in the RV full-time! Although we won’t be traveling full time anymore buckle up because the adventure is just beginning…
