Redwoods National Park
Another quick, but a memorable trip in the books because visiting the Redwoods to see the world’s tallest trees was a must!
If you know the Redwoods National Park, then you know to plan ahead because the GPS will fail you! Make sure to stop at the visitors center or go online before you plan out your visit! Because of the route, we decided to take, this stop almost didn’t happen. We were running out of daylight and decided to try and go for it. We were on track to enter the park at about 5PM, but we saw cars parked on the side of the road. If you’ve ever been to a national park, you know what that means, wildlife! There was an elk herd in a field, so we managed to pull the RV over to do some sightseeing.
At the first stop, we got onto the top of the RV and looked through the binoculars. It was so much fun and the kids loved it. However, the second stop was the highlight of Dan’s trip! He got a little closer to the elk to get some pictures when all of the sudden, the cows and the bulls started to get closer to him. The footage was so cool. It was a little scary, but a surreal moment. Luckily, Dan is an avid hunter and knows how to handle himself if it became a problem! he shares his hunting stories over on his YouTube and Apple Podcast!
With a little bit of daylight to spare, we made it into the park and took the main highway all the way through. Since they allowed leashed pups, we stopped at a trail, took some pictures, and went on a little hike with the kids. Words don’t do it justice to explain how tall and wide these redwoods were. When you see a tree that is is tall as a building, it’s mind blowing. My mind always goes back to how good is God?! The fact that he created massive trees like this, and also created insects that crawl on the ground. The creativity and detail is amazing. The Redwoods were such a great reminder of this!
Although this visit was short-lived, it was still so cool to mark another stay off our road map and another national park off our bucket list.
From there we headed north to Oregon to see another one of the things on my bucket list! Stay tuned for more adventures…
